Auburn, Alabama is more than just a college town—it’s a place full of charm, community, and plenty of personality. But like any town, it has its highs and lows. If you’re considering moving here, let me walk you through the pros and cons (and a few in-between!) from my local perspective.
PRO: Auburn University Brings Life to the Town
The university is the heartbeat of Auburn. From cultural events to football games, there’s always something happening. Whether you’re alumni or just love the energy, the campus brings life, jobs, and traditions that define the city. And yes, we love Aubie—and you’ll see him everywhere!
CON: The Weather is…Southern
We’re in the Deep South. It gets humid. Like, really humid. Expect muggy summers and warm winters that occasionally pretend to be cold. Bring layers—and keep bug spray on hand.
PRO: Small Town Vibes + Big Community Events
Our downtown might be small, but it’s full of charm. Walkable streets, local boutiques, and cozy coffee shops make it a favorite spot for locals and students alike. We host events like Sip & Shop, Cheers on the Corner, and Oktoberfest, which bring everyone together in the best way.
IN-BETWEEN: Downtown Traffic & Parking
Downtown is wonderful… until move-in week hits. With students pouring in, it gets crowded fast. You’ll quickly learn when to avoid downtown and where to find secret parking spots. Pro tip: embrace the parking deck.
I live here. I work here. And I’d love to help you feel at home here too.
